Lesson in Class: Coil and Rope

For our first class of Mechanics of Motion subject, Encik Ezwan asked us to warmed up by doing an activity called coil and rope. We separated into two group; boys and girls. We need to hold on each other and put our arms onto each other's shoulder. Encik Ezwan asked us to pretend and imagine we were standing on a rope in the circle and it was so far from ground, so we need to hold onto each other tightly. Then, the instruction given that we had to arrange ourselves in alphabetical order according our names. We need to think any technique or ways to change the arrangement among us without any of us fall from the rope.

We started with person of alphabet A in their names to make way next to the person that supposed to be the first in the order. The technique we used was letting the moving person moved without break the circle, walked in between teammates and not falling. Our group managed to arranged all teammates according name but with one fallen person.

Things we learned from this activity; teamwork is the important part. We need to trust our friends to let and make way for us to moved around. Teammates need to be very supportive and not just let our friends fall. Also, we need to be confident and yet very imaginative while doing this activity.

Second task, Encik Ezwan gave us five minutes to find something outside the classroom and brought it back to class. I managed to get unused empty large plastic bottle from clerk at the office counter.

Once we were back to the class, we need set ourselves in partners and discuss what short scenarios we can created using things we found as props. My partner's found item was a paper clip. Plus, the scenarios we need to acted out was without any speech or dialogues. Below, my partner and I acted out: 

As you can see, the scenarios we created; I was waiting for my friend who was late. I was kind of pissed off for her lateness and when she came to me with her exhausted expression, she apologized. She saw I was holding a bottle of mineral water and she asked me to have some. But, I was still pissed off her so I told her no and she kept begging for some water. So, to be fair for her late, I messed around with her as I handed her the bottle. When she finally got the bottle, as you can see, she had troubled to open the bottle cap. I looked around for something to help her open the cap and I found paper clip on her scarf so, I took it and showed her how to open the cap using it. And, she was happy! The end.
