Digital Ink and Paint: Vector Illustration

Assignment
FFA 233 - Digital Ink and Paint
Vector Illustration: Einstein
Semester 3
2017

I have done the first vector illustration exercise which was the monkey tracing. For this new task, all students need to select several vector arts from Google, show them to our lecturer and the lecturer choose one out of the selection for each of us to proceed with. So, this is the picture I have to proceed for trace and produce my vector illustration version from it.
Original picture from Google

Following are the steps and progress during the making of my version of Einstein:

1. Trace the line
This very first step was a bit challenging for me because pixel of the original picture cracked when zoomed-in. So, I need more focus on this part to make later steps easier.

I used Pen tool to outline most of the item, and Oval-shape tool for any circle objects. I used pink for outline so that I could see the line better. When the lining out finished, I transfer the new outline on white canvas and then, change the line color to black.

2. Coloring
For coloring, I took the color from the original picture using Eyedropper tool, select the object to be color and then change the Fill of the object. I always watched out for the Stroke to be fill in with black outline.

3. Detailing
This is the important part which could define the most similarity between the original picture and my version of it. Here's the time lapse of detailing steps I have made.

After putting the details, make the final touch up and added the background color, this the final result of the version of Einstein

Original vs My version

Final result; Einstein
