Assignment

This week's class, we learn how to turn a decent photo into amazing one!

For the first try a.k.a exercise, Miss Sheila has given us three photos; a boy and two scenery which turn up like this:

Photos used for editing

Okay, proceed to the real assignment. Miss Sheila has assigned us to take a full profile photo of ourselves and turn it into something like the boy photo in the exercise. First of all, it is hard for me to choose one out of all photos I took. So, here's it is, behold, my awkward pose:

These are the photos I will used in my dreamscape photo. All these photos are copyright taken by me on 29th July 2017.

These are the steps I took to edit my picture:

1. Crop the photo
All in want is only my figure, so I cropped out all the background wall and floor. I cropped using Magnetic Lasso Tool.

2. Put a black figure layer
After finished cropped all unwanted parts, I select Magic wand tool on the white canvas so that it will select all but me. Then, I inverse the Magic Wand, so now it is all selected on me. I added new layer and used Bucket Tool to fill in black color onto my figure.

At first I do not know what's this layer for, and then I realized that I need this layer to select my figure easily for the future. I put this layer at the bottom (before background), so that it will not disturbing me.

3. Add layer of colors
Added new layer and I using soft Brush Tool with lower opacity and flow, then I put some color on me.

4. Start insert photos in figure
This is the fun yet confusing part. Actually it was not confusing at all, I was just having difficult time to choose the photos.

Every time I wanted to insert a photo, I go to File > Place. Then, I rasterized the layer and adjust size and place at any part I wanted to. Click on the black figure layer > Magic Wand on me > inverse > new photo layer > delete. And then, I played with blending mood until I got the most satisfying edit. And.... I repeated all over again with other photos.

5. Fill in the background
I wanted the background to be contrast to my colored figured so, I put a background photo, and I used luminosity as the blending mood. Also, I lowered the opacity and flow to make my figure more emphasized. I put black oval shape just to complete the vision.

The final look:
I named this; Night in Singapore

Actually there are a few more Dreamscape Photo I edited because I really enjoyed doing this assignment. So, here's two selected different version of my Dreamscape Photos.

I guess that's all for today, thank you!
