Digital Ink and Paint: Shadow and Highlight
Assignment
FFA 233 - Digital Ink and Paint
Week 7: Shadow and Highlight
Semester 3
2017
This week's class we literally learn how to apply shadow and highlight in the pictures so that it will make the picture more alive.
So, here's the exercise I have done for the lesson.
Miss Sheila has provided us with the pictures to edit. These two first pictures are the original one.
After adding layers for shadow and highlight, this is the after result for the interior with shadow and lighting. The grass picture I used same technique as previous lesson, the Dreamscape Photo Illusion to add the texture for the carpet. I removed those unwanted parts in the photos using Eraser Tool.
This one, I tried to edit the lighting and shadow using Dodge Tool for lighting and Burn Tool for shadow. The carpet texture still using the grass but with Soft Burn blending mood. I think I like this better for this picture.
This is the second set of pictures to be edit with more textures to be put into and make the picture more real.
Same to the first attempt putting lighting and shadow in first picture, I used layers technique for it. I edited the textures perspective before I put them into the wall I wanted them to make the textures looks real in the pictures. Also, I adjust their blending mood to get the most suitable blend of the textures and the picture. This is the outcome.
From this lesson, I learn that there are so many ways to make a decent picture into something more real and lively. For instance, like this exercise, add some shadow, highlight and textures and ta-da, there you go!
