Exercise: Tracing Monkey

Tracing Monkey is an exercise in order to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator.

Progress:

1. Trace the line

I learn that tracing is important part of the exercise. If I done the shape wrongly and uncompleted, I will definitely face hard time to fill in color later.

2. Change outline color
Using Eyedropper Tool and Gradient Tool, I picked up the line color from the original monkey, then applied change on Stroke color.

3. Fill in color
Same steps as changing outline color, I used Eyedropper Tool and Gradient Tool to take color from the original monkey and change Fill color to the selection part.

4. Apply the shades

For this step, I took the shading color using Eyedropper Tool for Fill and left the Stroke blank so that it will be no outline. Thus, I color the shades according to the original monkey. And for the light shades, I applied them using Blob Brush Tool and lowered the opacity.

5. Trace the face

Final step I done was the face. I used the Pen Tool and adjust the type of line and the size.
