So, here we are, on my final assignment for Digital Ink and Paint subject. It feels like yesterday I was in our very first class. Hm.

This is the finishing of the progress and this is the outcome I've made for a steampunk theme digital painting. Mine would not seems too obvious on its' original theme but I also came out with good explanation on what this is all about. The original instruction was either make a steampunk-age character with normal background or a whole concept of steampunk background. So, my digital painting literally consists all of them.

I have made the steampunk concept town on the left side of my painting background and a steampunk man with his horse near the riverbank watching a woman who I made her to be in nature concept, or easiest way to call, a 'mother nature'. The mother nature is surrounding by the nature itself, green and lively.

The rational of this digital painting is to show two different side of world; steampunk land which dull, dark and gloomy, and the other side which is contrary to it, is nature land. Steampunk land can be represented as nowadays situation which every technology is developing and everything seems work out by factories, metals and gears. Also, the land looks so gloomy thus to the pollution that they have made by themselves, the steampunk land citizens. The reason why I made a man as the character for steampunk because men usually more aggressive in making progress and usually portrays the heavy industry workers. While, the mother nature is a woman because normally they are being use as personification of nature that focuses on the life giving and encouraging aspects of nature by embodying it. Also, there are so many beautiful genre-less things in this world are refer as a she because of their charms. I made the mother nature looking away from the other side of her world because development of technology usually being linked to the destroy and damage to the nature, which hurts the feeling of the nature herself. And as for the steampunk man who are eyeing the nature from the other side portrays that, we human, we always want more and more development until one day the world turned into gloom with all the damage and pollution without us realizing it. That maybe one day, we will realized how crucial the balance of nature in our lives and we want to enjoy the nature but the thing is today, nothing is free anymore and some of us just have the chance to enjoy the nature from a distance or maybe just in that tiny square screen in our hands.

This painting is about 80% photo imposed and those two characters are fully digital drawn. The sky also used brush and the clouds, I made a cloud brush to make it easier to form clouds. So, I think this is it. OMG, couldn't believe how fast this semester went! I will miss this class! <3
