Final for this class, we need to team up a group of four and create a scene and a character for each group members. My teammates are Aleena, Dinie and Qistina, and decided to make a scene at a traditional house where a grandmother lives with her three single granddaughters who are now at the age of more than thirty.

The situation we created was the grandmother (Aleena) let the three granddaughters know her frustration because they were not married yet despite of their age. The eldest granddaughter (Dinie) seems like she was very annoyed with their grandmother's question as they does not even given the grandmother burden by being single. She also demanded that there were so many men in the village so she could not even chose any because she of her diva pride. The middle granddaughter (played by me) who was so fond of befriend with her pet, Ayam, said that she had actually admired a guy despite of her silly and foolish personality. The youngest granddaughter (Eddie) teased her siblings for being rather too picky and stupid, she claimed that there was nobody wants a wife who does not even know how to cook, taking care of household and chores. Then, the eldest shrieked and claimed she knew how to boil water and the other sister asked folly does taking care of a husband is the same as taking care of her pet, Ayam. So, the grandmother started to tell her stories when she was younger and there were so many men proposed her, and she had a crush on this one guy who turned out to be gay. Then, there was the time when the youngest granddaughter told her grandmother why she does not even bother to be married, because she liked girls. All the others shocked and gasped, even worst the grandmother nearly got a heart attack. Because the grandmother was too angry, the grandmother banished them from the house.

As the middle granddaughter, this is my character analysis:

• Character

I played the role of the middle granddaughter who initially named was Bellah but we decided it was easier to call the character by the position in the family.

• Character's traits

The middle granddaughter was the most normal character that audience can see in our scene. But despite of her normal and sweet character, she was some kind of foolish girl and always have this naive way of thinking. She also has a pet named Ayam, which was obviously a chicken and she liked to talk to Ayam.

• Character's role

As the most normal looking character in the scene, the middle granddaughter's role was to show a kind emotion especially towards her grandmother despite of having very diva and snobbish elder sister and a emotional yet sarcastic younger sister.

• Character's goal

Her goal was not very clearly shown in the scene, but as I develop the character, she actually desires a fairy tale happy ending and married to a handsome young man who the one she stated that she admired to. But being a foolish character and always talking to her Ayam, it might be difficult for her to achieve her goal because she might tend to be fool easily by any man. And having sarcastic young sister who always said that they were not wife-material might make her lose hope a little bit.

• Character's most fear

From what we can see from the scene, the middle granddaughter was panicking when her grandmother nearly had a heart attack and she scolded her younger sister for making the grandmother so shocked which shown that she fears that her grandmother will fall sick with the news.

• Character's exaggerated characteristics

I think the exaggeration for this character were the face expressions and emotions. I need to really show that I really cared about the grandmother as a good granddaughter. And, I had to be obvious to show how silly the character was by always talking and smiling to the chicken as if it understands me.

• Character's relationship with others

The middle granddaughter was the second granddaughter to the grandmother, and she was the in between of her two sisters. It was pretty obvious names for the character to help better understanding of the characters' relation.

Dinie, Qistina, Aleena and me

Overall, I love this class for this semester. It was one of the class that doesn't even required a lot of weekly assignment, other than just keep updating our blogs and progress in the class. Also, Mechanics of Motion classes can be a stress reliever sometimes, with good laughter and seen our classmates done things they never had done before. However I had to admit that being someone who likes to reserve myself only for me or introvert, acting out was not really that really, especially when it comes to exaggeration. But I learn that from this class, that I actually could acted out given to the tasks and it was the great experience. I also learn that, we are able to come out idea good and cool ideas to act out even if the tasks always given on the spot in class. Thank you to Mr Ezwan too, for making this class interesting and fun!
