Week 9: Progress

This week for this subject, we were already assigned to plan and make progress for our final assessment. The theme for final is Steampunk, which we can choose whether to make a steampunk character with normal background or a whole steampunk background.

So, I started to brainstorm the ideas for this assessment and then I found this:

This is something interesting to be inspired for my final, so I proceed to search for a steampunk man character and a mother nature woman. At first, my planning was to make the couple holding hands to each other and the elements were going to be on them. It is like the steampunk stuffs going to be on the man, and all the nature elements will be on the woman's hair and dress. And so, I make this rough sketch,

As I consulted with Miss Sheila, she afraid that the background will be hard to blend or combine those two elements and instead she asked me to refer to this picture,

Still, I can insert those two elements but instead of holding onto each other, I can make two sides of different worlds; steampunk and nature. Thus, it will be separated by only the small river, just like in the reference photo. And the couple will be separated on each side of the world the belongs to, maybe looking and admire each other from distance.

That idea was interesting too, so I'm going to proceed with that. For the next progress, I must have the clear view of the drawing already with color scheme.
